Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has formed a new central committee for the next three years. Mian Golam Parwar has once again been appointed as the Secretary General in the new committee. Simultaneously, a 59-member Central Majlish-e-Shura and an 88-member Central Working Committee have also been formed.
The committee was formed on Friday (February 20) morning during a virtual meeting of Jamaat’s Central Majlish-e-Shura, following consultation with leaders. The party’s Amir and Leader of the Opposition in the National Parliament, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, presided over the meeting. However, the Naib-e-Amirs, Secretary General, and Assistant Secretary Generals participated in person.
In the new committee, four Naib-e-Amirs and seven Assistant Secretary Generals have been appointed. To further streamline organizational activities, the entire country, including Dhaka, has been divided into 14 regions, and regional directors have also been appointed. The term of this new committee will be effective from 2026 to 2028.
It is known that this central committee was formed approximately three months after Dr. Shafiqur Rahman was elected as Jamaat’s Amir on November 2 of last year. During the virtual meeting, he consulted with the members of the Central Majlish-e-Shura, elected the new office bearers, and administered their oath.
In the new committee, ATM Azharul Islam, Professor Mujibur Rahman, Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, and Maulana A.N.M. Shamsul Islam have been appointed as Naib-e-Amirs. Maulana ATM Masum, Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Dr. Hamidur Rahman Azad, Maulana Abdul Halim, Advocate Muazzam Hossain Helal, Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan, and Advocate Ehsanul Mahbub Jubair have been appointed as Assistant Secretary Generals.
The notification further stated that a 21-member Central Executive Council has been formed. Additionally, a five-member Central Election Commission has been constituted, with Maulana ATM Masum appointed as its Chief Election Commissioner.
Furthermore, 21 female members have been included in the 88-member Central Working Committee, and 17 female members in the 59-member Central Majlish-e-Shura, indicating an increase in women’s participation in the party’s organizational structure.
To strengthen organizational activities, separate directors have been appointed for the 14 regions of the country. Mian Golam Parwar has been appointed as the director for Dhaka Metropolitan, and party activities in other important regions will also be conducted through designated leaders.
