In the last 24 hours, seven more children have died with measles symptoms across the country. Consequently, the total number of deaths from measles and its symptoms has risen to 738 since March 15 of this year.
This information was disclosed in a statement released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday.
The statement mentioned that among the total deaths, 93 died from confirmed measles and 645 died with measles symptoms.
Meanwhile, 106 new cases of measles were identified in the last 24 hours. As a result, the total number of confirmed measles patients in the country since March 15 now stands at 12,632.
During the same period, an additional 925 suspected measles cases were identified, bringing the total number of suspected measles patients in the country to 105,618.
The Directorate General of Health Services has urged parents to ensure regular vaccination for children to prevent the spread of measles, and also called upon affected individuals to seek prompt medical treatment.
