Journalist Al Kachir Honored in Nepal

Bangladeshi journalist Al Kachir has been honored in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. He received this recognition for his contribution to film journalism and for promoting Bangladeshi cinema on the international stage.

Al Kachir participated in the 14th Nepal–Africa International Film Festival at the invitation of Kathmandu’s College of Journalism and Mass Communication (CJMC) and Bilakshan Creation. On January 19, the closing day of the festival, Dinesh DC, Chairman of the Nepal Film Development Board, presented him with the honor and a memento at an auditorium of the institution.

Al Kachir expressed his delight at receiving an honor abroad for the first time. Speaking over the phone from Nepal, he said, “This is my first honor received outside the country. The feeling is beyond words. This recognition will further increase my sense of responsibility towards my work and accelerate my progress.”

Dabbu Chhetri, one of the festival organizers, stated, “Al Kachir has played a significant role in Bangladesh’s film industry. He has regularly covered various prestigious film festivals around the world, including the Cannes Film Festival. Through his journalism, news of Bangladeshi cinema and films has reached the international arena. This honor is a recognition of his work and contributions. We hope he will continue to play an important role in the mutual relationship and development of the film industries of Nepal and Bangladesh in the future.”

Al Kachir completed his postgraduate studies in Media Studies from Calcutta University. In the course of his professional duties, he has traveled to various countries including India, Nepal, Malaysia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Japan, China, France, Turkey, Finland, and the USA. On these trips, he has covered numerous significant events, including international film festivals.

Currently, Al Kachir is working as a Senior Correspondent for the private television channel Star News. Previously, he worked at Somoy Television, Nagorik TV, Bangladesher Khobor, and BD24Live.com.

Throughout his long professional career, Al Kachir has worked in film, television, entertainment, and cultural journalism. He possesses particular expertise in covering domestic and international film festivals and highlighting Bangladeshi cinema news on the global stage. Professionally, he is a member of the Dhaka Journalists Union (DUJ) and the Bangladesh Film Journalists Association (BACHSAS).
