A delegation led by Essa Kazim, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DP World, met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
During the meeting on Thursday (October 8), discussions covered the expansion of trade and investment between Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates, the development of port management and logistics sectors, and various issues of mutual interest.
The 15-year concession agreement signed between Bangladesh and DP World for the operation and modernization of the Chittagong Container Terminal was also discussed.
Under the agreement, DP World will be responsible for operating and maintaining the container terminal and its overflow container yard. This partnership is expected to play a crucial role in modernizing the terminal, increasing operational efficiency, and enhancing the capacity of port and logistics infrastructure.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister inquired about the DP World delegation’s interest in establishing free trade zones, rail-based inland container depots, and new investments in Bangladesh. The delegation, in turn, expressed interest in cooperation and investment in these sectors.
