A meeting was held to review the progress of the proposed Inner Circular Ring Road construction project, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the capital, Dhaka. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman presided over the meeting.
The meeting took place on Sunday (October 4) at the Prime Minister’s Office within the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the project’s current progress, existing complexities in implementation, and coordination among relevant agencies. The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Local Government Division to jointly review the project’s existing plans and accelerate the pace of construction.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of promptly identifying and initiating solutions for all existing obstacles to project implementation. He also instructed that the project work be advanced by ensuring effective coordination among all relevant agencies.
The Prime Minister also spoke of setting a realistic timeframe for the project’s swift implementation and taking necessary steps to complete the work within the stipulated period. Concurrently, he instructed those involved to ensure rapid and visible progress in the project’s work.
Among those present at the meeting were Sheikh Rabiul Alam, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, and Railways and Shipping; Mir Shahe Alam, State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives; Habibur Rashid Habib, State Minister for Road Transport and Bridges, and Railways; Abdus Salam, Administrator of Dhaka South City Corporation; and Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton, Administrator of Dhaka North City Corporation.
Additionally, senior officials from relevant ministries and divisions also participated in the meeting.
