Prime Minister Tareque Rahman commented that this year’s budget will be prudent, normal, and realistic. He stated that this year’s budget will bring at least some relief to people from all walks of life.

He made this remark on Monday (June 29) in his address on the 18th working day of the second session (budget session) of the Thirteenth National Parliament.

The Prime Minister said that after the withdrawal of customs duty on 61 products in this budget, the prices of goods have remained normal.

Labeling this proposed budget as a ‘life-friendly’ budget, he said this is the first time that prices of daily necessities have not increased after the budget announcement.

Tareque Rahman said, ‘I do not want to deny the country’s multifaceted crises, nor do I want to make excuses. Foreign exchange reserves had decreased due to money laundering.’

He added, ‘A democratic environment has been established in the country. We want to move forward without looking back at the past.’
