The government today approved two separate proposals in principle for implementing the civil part and E/M part of the construction of the ‘July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum’ as delegated works under the Ministry of Housing and Public Works.
The approvals came from the 21st meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Economic Affairs held today at the Cabinet Division at Bangladesh Secretariat today.
Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed presided over the meeting alongside presiding two separate meetings of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase and the Food Planning and Monitoring Committee.
Briefing reporters after the meetings, the Finance Adviser said that both the proposals on constructing the ‘July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum’ were approved in principle while the construction work of it has already started.
He said that the government has decided to review all the agreements on the independent power plants signed during the previous regime since there were allegation of inconsistencies in those agreements.
There was directive from the Supreme Court (apex court) in this regard, he added.
In line with this, Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said that the government has approved a proposal for availing legal support in this regard and holding necessary discussions over the matter.
He said that they reviewed and assessed the food storage situation of the country and found it satisfactory.
The Finance Adviser said that the storage state of main food grains like paddy, rice and wheat was reviewed while the storage situation of paddy and rice in the last fiscal year till June 30 last was reviewed.
He said that there would be ups and downs in the market as it is not expected that the prices of all products would go up while prices of all products would go down all on a sudden. “But, we remain very cautious and vigil in this regard.”
Answering to a question, the Finance Adviser said that the government has decided to review all the agreements on independent power plants in the country signed during the last regime for which legal assistance would be sought.
