Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, who took oath as the 23rd President of the country, will move into Bangabhaban tomorrow, Sunday (August 23). The President’s Office has confirmed this information.
According to sources from the President’s Office, President Mirza Fakhrul will depart from his government residence on Minto Road for Bangabhaban at 10:50 AM on Sunday. His move to Bangabhaban will mark the beginning of his formal occupancy of the presidential residence.
Previously, on Friday (August 21) evening, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir took oath as the 23rd President of the country at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban. Acting Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Kaiser Kamal, administered the oath of office to him.
With the taking of the oath, his responsibilities as President officially began.
Mirza Fakhrul, who had long served as the Secretary General of BNP, resigned from his party post after being elected President. He was elected President in the presidential election held on Thursday, securing 255 votes.
Earlier, on Friday evening, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir formally assumed the responsibilities of President after taking the oath at Bangabhaban.
