Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has stated that providing opportunities for children to develop their talents will make the nation’s foundation stronger in the future. He also emphasized the importance of nurturing children with human values, stating his desire to build a humane Bangladesh.

He made these remarks on Tuesday (October 6) at an event organized to observe Child Rights Day 2026 and the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Shishu Academy.

The Prime Minister announced that government initiatives for child talent development will fully commence from 2028. He believes that providing adequate opportunities for their growth will enable them to play significant roles for the country in the future. Therefore, alongside talent development, emphasis must be placed on fostering human values and moral education in children.

He stated, “I want to build a humane Bangladesh.” Children must be raised in a way that they embody humanity and values, enabling them to establish the future Bangladesh on an even stronger foundation.

Earlier on Tuesday morning, 150 children welcomed the Prime Minister upon his arrival at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy. The event officially began with the rendition of the national anthem. After the national anthem, the Prime Minister took his seat alongside the guests.

The Prime Minister’s wife and Vice Chairman of Ziaur Rahman Foundation, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, was present at the event. The program was chaired by the Minister for Women and Children Affairs, Professor Dr. A Z M Zahid Hossain.

The theme for this year’s event, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Bangladesh Shishu Academy and Child Rights Day 2026, has been set as “May the Future of Children be Secure.”

This year’s event has been organized with a strong focus on ensuring a secure future for children, protecting their rights, and creating opportunities for their talent development.
