The whereabouts of the top 7 leaders including Kader have not been found

The law enforcement forces have yet to execute the arrest warrant issued against seven people, including Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader, who are included in the banned activities in the case of crimes against humanity, on the charge of killings that took place in July-August, 2024.

On Monday (December 29), the prosecution stated the matter in Tribunal-II. Retired District and Sessions Judge. The hearing was conducted by a two-member judicial panel headed by Manjurul Bachid. Another member of the panel was District and Sessions Judge Noor Mohammad Shahriar Kabir.

Prosecutor Sahidul Islam heard on behalf of the prosecution. He told the tribunal that despite arrest warrants against the seven accused in the case, no one was found at their permanent and temporary addresses. Of these, full reports have been submitted for six, but reports for one are yet to be received. The tribunal said that the next order will be given after receiving all the reports.

The other accused are- Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nashim, Former Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, Jubo League President Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, General Secretary Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain and General Secretary Wali Asif Inan.

Earlier, on December 18, the tribunal issued arrest warrants against these seven people. The prosecution filed a formal charge sheet with the Registrar of Tribunal-II that morning. Later Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam and Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim heard the matter.

During the hearing, Tamim read out separate charges against the seven accused. Three specific charges have been leveled against former Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader—instructing, inciting and inciting. Corresponding liability is also mentioned against other defendants.

After reading the charge sheet, the prosecution applied to take cognizance of the charge sheet and issue an arrest warrant. Chief Prosecutor Tajul Islam highlighted the relevant law. After taking into account the complaint, the three-member judicial panel led by the Chairman of Tribunal-2, Justice Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, issued arrest warrants against the seven persons and fixed today for hearing.
