Prime Minister Tarique Rahman stated that one of the key objectives of the country’s development journey is to transform the potential of youth into the driving force of national progress. To this end, the government is implementing multi-faceted initiatives by integrating education, skill development, employment, healthcare, and family planning.

The Prime Minister made this statement in a message issued on Friday (July 10) on the occasion of World Population Day, observed on Saturday (July 11).

He mentioned that this year’s theme, ‘Unleashing the hopes and aspirations of youth, Building a beautiful tomorrow with today’s preparations,’ is deeply intertwined with the national development philosophy. He added that ensuring an improved quality of life for the people and a healthy, educated, skilled, and dignified life for every citizen is one of the current government’s key commitments.

The Prime Minister said that the government is working tirelessly to build a prosperous, inclusive, and self-reliant Bangladesh by transforming demographic potential into a force for sustainable development, enhancing human resources, expanding universal healthcare, strengthening family planning activities, and empowering women and youth.

He urged the people of the country, especially the younger generation, to become active partners in upholding and implementing the spirit of World Population Day.

The Prime Minister stated that the future of Bangladesh depends on a generation that is educated, skilled, technology-friendly, healthy, humane, and innovative. The state is working to ensure a suitable environment for quality education, employment, advanced healthcare, and the formation of safe and dignified families for young people.

He further added that today’s youth are the main strength of an information technology-driven and knowledge-based economy. The government is committed to building a Bangladesh where every young man and woman can make their mark in the domestic and global labor markets by acquiring up-to-date skills.

The head of government noted that with economic security, social stability, and an improved healthcare system, young people will be able to confidently plan their future and consciously make important decisions such as forming responsible families.

He stated that a healthy population is a prerequisite for building a developed nation. To achieve this goal, the government is working to ensure accessible, quality, and accountable healthcare, as well as strengthening family planning activities, expanding technology-driven healthcare, and developing skilled human resources.

Referring to child marriage, adolescent motherhood, and malnutrition as major obstacles to the development of the younger generation, the Prime Minister said that these issues have long-term negative impacts on human resource development, educational continuity, women’s empowerment, and maternal and child health. For this reason, the government is implementing integrated programs to prevent child marriage, expand sexual and reproductive healthcare for adolescents, improve nutrition, and strengthen life-skills-based education activities.

At the end of his message, the Prime Minister expressed hope that if every young person receives equal opportunities, they will become the main driving force for building a prosperous and developed Bangladesh in the future. He also wished overall success for all programs organized on the occasion of World Population Day 2026.
