Dhaka-12 constituencies comprising important and elite areas of the capital. Important areas like Tejgaon, Karwan Bazar and Hatirjheel are included in this constituency. In this constituency, the Election Commission has declared the nomination papers of Amjantar party member secretary Tariq Rahman as valid.
However, the focus of discussion is the affidavit filed by him, according to which he is one of the poorest candidates in this election. Analyzing the affidavit submitted by Tariq Rahman to the Election Commission, it can be seen that there is almost nothing to say about its subject-property.

Electronic goods and furniture: Surprisingly, he did not show any electronic goods or furniture in his name in the affidavit.
Total Assets: His total assets including business capital and others are 10 lakh 59 thousand 143 rupees.
The annual income of businessman Tarek Rahman by profession is 4.5 lakh taka. He has no investments in the stock market and no insurance or inherited property in his name. According to the income tax return of the financial year 2025-26, he has deposited income tax of only 5 thousand rupees. But the positive side is that there is no bank loan or any other debt in his name.
When asked about his ’empty’ wealth, Tariq Rahman said, “My parents have wealth, but they have not written anything in my name yet.” Although my father-in-law has property, it is not given in my wife’s name. They are all alive, so it is not yet time for wealth to come to my name.
Tareek Rahman dreams of becoming a member of parliament as a representative of the people of this area, which is plagued with various problems, including Tejgaon industrial area and Hatirjheel.
His affidavit of ‘zero’ wealth in the midst of a flamboyant election campaign has created a lot of curiosity among the general electorate.
