48 arrested for technical cheating in examination center

Police arrested 48 candidates with electronic devices from various examination centers in Gaibandha during the attempt of technology-based cheating in the assistant teacher recruitment examination. They were caught red-handed during the examination from 43 centers of Gaibandha Sadar, Phulchari and Palashbari upazilas on Friday afternoon.

According to central sources, strict security measures have been taken by the district administration to conduct the assistant teacher recruitment examination in a fair and transparent manner. Section 144 has been imposed in examination centers and special vigilance has been strengthened to prevent technical cheating. At this time, the concerned examinees were identified and arrested for trying to fake using electronic devices secretly.

Gaibandha District Primary Education Officer Laxman Kumar said, ‘We have been in a strict position to prevent cheating since the beginning of the examination. During the examination, 48 candidates were detained with electronic devices. Police have been directed to take legal action against them.’

Gaibandha Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education) Hedayetul Islam said that the detained examinees will be handed over to the court through the police after preliminary interrogation. He also said that an officer of the primary education office will file a case as a plaintiff in this incident.

Notably, the law and order forces across the district were on high alert around the assistant teacher recruitment exam. Against more than four hundred vacancies in the district, 27 thousand 688 candidates participated in this recruitment test.
