A news of Public Rights Council president Nurul Haque Noor being issued a show-cause notice and temporary suspension from the party has spread on social media. However, the top leadership of the party has claimed that this news is completely fake and baseless.

In an audio message on Friday (January 9), Acting General Secretary of the People’s Rights Council, Hassan Al Mamun, said that a false press release was spread by purposely forging his signature. He alleged that there is an attempt to tarnish the image of the party through this.

Hassan Al Mamun said the viral press release was completely fabricated. His signature was copied from another document and pasted on the party pad. No such decision was taken against Nurul Haque Noor by the People’s Rights Council. He urged everyone not to be misled by these contrived rumours. The party also informed that a third party is involved in such propaganda for political benefits.

Recently, there has been some dissatisfaction and tension within the People’s Rights Council over the seat compromise issue with the BNP, but the party’s policy makers believe that the situation is being used to spread rumours. Various discussions were made in the political arena last Thursday around the allegations of seat compromise against the president going beyond the party decision and the temporary dismissal of the office secretary.

In this regard, the party’s higher council member and media coordinator Abu Hanif said that there is electoral politics behind this rumour. According to his commentary, massive public support has been generated for Nurul Haque Noor’s ‘Truck’ symbol in Patuakhali-3 constituency. Jealous of this, a group is systematically spreading false information.

In view of the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections, the People’s Rights Council has urged the media and the general public not to spread or believe any information without verification.
