The shock operation of the US Delta Force in Venezuela and the removal of President Nicolás Maduro is causing an uproar around the world. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has cleared the question of Britain’s involvement in this campaign.
In a statement on Saturday (January 3), he said, the United Kingdom was not involved in this military operation in any way, and he had no talk with US President Donald Trump about it. He emphasized on verifying all information in this rapidly changing situation.
Meanwhile, the US has started sounding war drums in South America and the Caribbean based on this move. Colombian President Gustavo Petro has called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations over the attack. In the emerging situation, he confirmed the deployment of the army on the Venezuelan border. The President of Chile, Gabriel Boric, directly condemned, saying that this US military action has caused deep concern.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel described the attack as a ‘criminal attack’. He urged the international community to react against Washington on an urgent basis. On the other hand, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamala Persad-Bisesar, emphasized on maintaining calm and friendly relations.
While the storm of condemnation is raging in the world, the country’s Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello called on people to remain calm inside Venezuela. He requested to have full confidence in the country’s leadership and military forces. According to Cabello, the whole world should be vocal about this unprecedented aggression. It remains to be seen what the Venezuelan military will do next in Maduro’s absence.
